Milk Paint is an ancient all-natural paint containing five all-natural ingredients – milk protein (casein), limestone, clay, chalk and natural pigments. When absorbed into the surface, Milk Paint will never chip or peel when applied to a raw wood surface. It is suitable for both interior and exterior applications and is naturally mold resistant. Milk paint provides a completely breathable coating and is ideal for painting wood, plaster, drywall and a variety of other surfaces. It is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and contains no VOCs.

With the Milk Paint Bonding Agent you can use Milk Paint on even more surfaces such as previously painted walls, varnished surfaces, ceramic tiles, metal, glass etc. Without the bonding agent, Milk Paint will resist some prefinished or prepainted surfaces to achieve an authentic “chippy” look

Mixing: Mix approximately 1 part water to 1 part milk paint powder with a blender (strictly used for paint), by shaking in a lidded container, by hand with a whisk or stir stick or with a motorized paint mixer. Add tepid water to container first, then add milk paint powder slowly and mix for 3-5 minutes. Paint a test swatch to make sure desired consistency has been achieved. If the paint is translucent or runny, it is too thin.  If it the brush drags and the paint appears gritty or chunky, it is too thick.  Add more water or powder accordingly and mix again.  Once satisfied with the color opacity and consistency, pour out paint into a wide mouth container. Apply paint evenly in long, smooth strokes with a brush or roller. Stir paint occasionally as pigments may settle at the bottom of the container. Drying time is approximately 30 minutes. Two to three coats may be necessary to achieve your desired coverage and possibly more when applying a light color over a dark surface. Lightly sand with a 220 grit sandpaper to smooth surface. Remove dust. A top coat is required to protect the paint and bring out the richness and depth of the color. We recommend MMS Hemp Oil for a 100% natural finish or MMS Furniture Wax for a hand-rubbed appearance. A polyurethane or varnish of your choosing may also be applied.

This fresh colour captures the feel of a classic farmhouse with white painted wood siding nestled in a bucolic valley. Farmhouse White really is a 'perfect white'. Not too cool not too warm and covers better than the other whites in our line.

Grain Sack is one of Marian's favorite colours, named for the colour of antique European grain sacks. It's a chameleon colour, meaning it looks different depending on what is around it., sometimes it looks white, sometimes grey and sometimes more beige.Grain Sack is a great colour to mix in order to lighten without making the colour too pastel. It pairs well with the other greys in the line – Shutter Grey and Trophy.
