As you all know , we use a variety of paints and finishes when reviving furniture and have for the longest time been looking for a the perfect product to sell in our shop. We wanted something we could be proud to be associated with and have 100% confidence in, and we found it !
Both brands are amazing and have very different qualities.
WHAT IS MILK PAINT ?
Milk paint is all natural, environmentally friendly, non-toxic and contains no VOC’s.
It only contains 5 natural ingredients, Milk protein ( casein ), lime-stone, clay, chalk and natural pigments for colour . It comes in powder form and is mixed in equal parts with water.
The benefits of it being in powder form is that you only use what you need ! so no wastage. This form of paint has been around for thousands of years, with examples of it being found in the pyramids and on cave paintings. It’s been used for many years in America and Canada the most iconically on barns , so when you see that wonderful earth toned red barn , you can bet its milk paint .
The best thing about it is the different finishes you can achieve, that wonderful authentic aged ‘chippy’ look a smooth solid modern look, a colour wash or it can be used as a stain…. the world’s your oyster.

WHAT IS FUSION MINERAL PAINT ?
Fusion has taken 10 years to develop and the results are amazing ! It’s a one step paint that has an environmentally conscious formulation, so no VOC’s . This 100% acrylic paint has superior durability and improved strength, delivering an exceptional matte finish, the exciting part for all us furniture restorers is it doesn’t need a top coat due to its formulation …how amazing is that ?
This paint is great to work with and lends itself to many styles, it can be distressed or left solid for a more contemporary look it can be applied with brush or roller and you know I’m dying to get it into my sprayer !! 🙂 as well as a beautiful colour range there are other products to go along side including , glazes and metallics brushes and stencils ….can you tell how excited I am ??
